I really have no new exciting news to report only that I will have some new Neckies up on Etsy later today. Go to www.marinade.etsy.com to check them out!

I’ve just been working my tush off and taking care of the house and fam. I’m currently applying to grad schools also so things have been a little nuts. I should have a couple of new finished projects to show you soon. Till then…

I did make time during my weekend home to attend the 2nd Annual PBR Mini Golf Tournament:

Good times, good times…

On another note, i’ll be selling my wares at the November Art on the Lawn hosted by The Never Ender and Lavender Ridge. If anyone is going to be around in Reno on November 21st and 22nd, i’ll be out there doin’ my thing. In the meantime, it’s going to be a mad rush to make enough stuff to sell…wish me luck!

Off to camp September 7, 2008

So, later today, i’ll be back at camp for a week. So excited, but also sad to be away from home for another week. I feel like this summer has not been very productive in terms of the stuff I wanted to do around the house. I really wanted to grow a garden this year but that didn’t exactly happen as I was gone so much. I wanted to brew more beer but we just couldn’t get it together to do that either. Oh well, beer can be added to the fall projects and the garden will have to wait until next year.

My parents are visiting for the weekend. My dad is in Reno for a golf tourney this week and mom came up for a couple days to hang out. We went to Johnny’s for fantastic Italian last night and I baked this pie for desert. Notice how fancy I am getting with the pie decorating:

This pie was strawberry, blueberry, rhubarb. Can you tell I’m obsessed with rhubarb?

Anyway, Nick, my parents and I played cards last night and then Nick and I taught my mom how to play Ticket to Ride…this nerdy train game that we love. My mom like it so much she wanted to play twice!

Also this weekend, we have 3 doggies in the house! Wallace of course, Nick’s parents’ dog Bhodie, and my parent’s beagle Baily. It’s been quite the circus. Here is Nick this morning with the dogs in our ridiculously ugly yard, trying to get them to do tricks for treats…we had mixed results.

My mom brought with her the used serger that she bought for me recently. We will be setting it up along with my yarn winder today in my new in-house crafty space. Pics of that will be coming soon. In the meantime, we made a frittata for breakfast with sauteed onions, summer squash and potato with cheddar on top served with ambrosia melon and toast with my homemade strawberry jam…yum…

Hope everyone has a great week! See ya’ll in a couple days…

Silliness

After an evening of amazing Indian Food last night thanks to Schmoxy (my friends from camp, Gecko and Fox aka. Schmoxy, who used to be a professional chef, are staying at the house for a few days), watching the Republican Nat’l Convention and feeling sick to our stomachs, and Apples to Apples, coffee and some quality dog time were much needed. Also yesterday, Fox showed me how to make New England Style Mustard pickles! They are a cold fermentation so we just bought all of the pickling cucs Whole Foods (aka. Whole Paycheck) had in stock and used a bunch of the random jars we had lying around the house. Here they are!

Pickles!

Pickles!

They should be ready to eat in about 5 days! Very exciting! Not only that but this is two days in a row for the blogging…I feel accomplished!

What i’ve been up to… September 3, 2008

For starters, i’ve been in the woods with the slowest internet known to man. However, i’ve been a busy bee. Here are a few pics from the last couple of weeks.

So yeah, we went to SF two weekends ago. Went to the Giants-Padres game. Hung out with Heather and Cass. Stayed with Nick’s friends in Noe Valley, my favorite neigborhood in the city. Went to Brytex, my favorite fabric store…4 floors of bliss… Saw Heather open for Edwin McCain…she’s amazing. I’m sure that no one but my closest friends read this blog so far, but if anyone hasn’t heard of Heather Combs already, check her out here. Not only is she one of my closest friends, but she is an amazing singer-songwriter. You can listen to her stuff here. I also ventured randomly in this little shop called Doe. It was super cute, lot’s of locally made artsy stuff, and art by Ashley Goldberg of the Kitty Genius blog. I was thrilled to see her “Bearded Men” in person. I swear one of these days i’m going to buy up a bunch of her work. Anyway, SF was awesome. I hadn’t visited in a while and I didn’t realize how much I missed it.

Still busy with SNJ related work however, i’m enjoying a week off right now. It’s fantastic. Almost have my new sewing and art space finished. Will post photos soon. In the meantime, i’ll leave you with this photo:
